George & Sheree Wuertz
Biography:
The Wuertz family continues to live, serve and minister in Cuenca, Ecuador in the middle of the Andes mountains where they have served over the past 11 years. When they first received their call to missions and more specifically to Ecuador during a Sunday morning worship service at Westview, they knew it was going to be a “wait and see and follow” adventure that the Lord would lead them on. In these most recent years, the Wuertz’s have seen their original vision of The Rock Family Center which hosts the Sportec Soccer Academy and Lighthouse Church become more fully-functioning and well on its way to self-sustainability. They recently trained and released a new pastoral team to lead the Lighthouse Church as Sheree is on maternity leave with new baby Caleb. It has been encouraging to see both the soccer club and local church reach into the local community and impact the kids, youth, and families for Christ. The next phase of the development of The Rock Family Center includes a multi-use gymnasium which will provide a permanent meeting spot for the local church, which currently meets in a big, blue tent as well as space for community events and the opportunity to develop a Sportec basketball program for the girls and youth in the area. The whole Wuertz family including the 4 boys embrace John 10:10 as their life and ministry verse as their hope to see all Ecuadorians come to find and experience the abundant life in Jesus!”.
George and Sheree have four children: Daniel (’06), Nathan (’08), Joel (’12) and recently Caleb (’18).
